In the year 1821, the year Fayette County (GA) was constituted, and of the land ceded by the Creek Indians to the government, William Betsill was granted 202 acres, known as land lot 83, at the mouth of Hurricane Creek and the Flint River. The acreage was passed to Godfrey Betsill and his wife Sara in 1822..... Of German origins, the Betsills' migration to Fayette County Began from the Ports of Europe. Ancestors passed through Philidelphia immigration early in the Colonial years. This family, along with other immigrants, found a place in society on small parcels of land among the vastness of plantations in Fayette County, earning their way as skilled workmen that were not usual plantation help, such as CARPENTERS and blacksmiths.... keep reading in the .PDF file link below!
